JROTC Activites

Drill Team

The    Drill    Team    is    an    exciting    extension    of    the    discipline, teamwork,    and    leadership    skills    learned    in    class.    The    team performs   at   all   the   JROTC   ceremonies   and   inspections.   Teams can   be   male,   female,   or   mixed.   When   they   participate   in   local competition,   they   confer   as   much   pride   on   their   school   as   varsity team    sports.    JROTC    drill    teams    are    considered    an    excellent means   to   creating   appropriate   attention,   publicity,   and   interest in    the    JROTC    program    and    for    maintaining    a    high    state    of morale.   All   cadets   are   eligible   for   the   drill   team   provided   they are: Outstanding cadets in JROTC Willing and able to attend practice sessions before school

Step Team

The   Step   team   program   for   the   cadet   battalion   participates   in competitive   events,   parades   and   other   activites   demonstrating the   talent,   skill,   organization   and   pride   of   the   JROTC.All   cadets are eligible for the drill team provided they are: Outstanding cadets in JROTC Willing and able to attend practice sessions before school

Marksmanship Program

The     Civilian     Marksmanship     Program     (CMP)     is     a     national organization   dedicated   to   training   and   educating   U.   S.   citizens   in responsible   uses   of   firearms   and   air   guns   through   gun   safety training,   marksmanship   training   and   competitions.         It   places   its highest    priority    on    serving    youth    through    gun    safety    and marksmanship    activities    that    encourage    personal    growth    and building life skills.  It supports the following objectives: To instruct citizens of the United States in marksmanship To promote practice and safety in the use of firearm To   strengthen   confidence   and   competence         in   the   use   of firearms   through   participation   in   competitions   and   the   o award   of   trophies,   prizes,   badges,   and   other   insignia   to competitors

Color Guard

The   Color   Guard/Honor   Guard   represents   the   cadet   corps   and Ripon    High    School    at    many    formations,    reviews,    parades, athletic,   and   official   events   throughout   the   year.   All   cadets   are eligible   to   volunteer   for   the   color   guard   provided   they   meet   the following requirements: Physically   capable   and   presentable   of   the   highest   standard of military appearance while wearing the uniform. No discipline or conduct problems Willing and able to attend practice before school Having   the   desire,   motivation,   and   capability   of   becoming a member Be    willing    to    present    the    colors    at    athletic    and    official events     after     school     hours,     to     include     evenings     and weekends.
